The Tearfund team left on Wednesday night after being here for 4 weeks, there were 5 Scots, 4 English and 2 Norn Irish, the craic was mighty. They spent most of the time painting houses in the Children's City and playing with the children and teenagers. We also went to a project in a Favela and visited some of the people who live there, the team said that it was amazing to see people who have so little and are living in such dreadful conditions full of joy because people come to visit them and pray for them. They liked it so much that they decided to miss a day trip to the beach and return there to spend the day and even though only 1 of the team could speak a bit of Portuguese and none of the children or teenagers could speak English everyone had a great time. At the end of their time they had a few days off so we went to Ilha Grande (Big Island) and from there we were able to go to Rio de Janeiro for a day. I have a couple off days to recover as I am very tired and then it is back to work again on Monday.
